Now it might be you’ve heard the term ‘hosted phone’ but aren’t entirely sure what it means. Or you may know exactly what you’re looking for and want to check out our offering. Whichever it is, you’re in the right place. So let’s start with the basics.
To understand how a hosted phone system works let’s first look at how a traditional phone system is setup. With a traditional phone, you install a box called a Private Branch Exchange (PBX) at your premises which can support a maximum number of extensions. This box then connects handsets at one end, to traditional lines at the other. Because all of the components are installed at your premises, you are responsible for the system maintenance and are limited by the number of extensions your PBX can handle.
So how is this different from a hosted system?
With a hosted system there is no PBX box at your office. Instead, all of the system hardware is located virtually at the HPT data centre. Handsets are then connected to this system through your internet connection. No hardware for you to maintain, no limit to the number of handsets you can install. Extensions can be added or moved easily and you have the flexibility to add new features to your system without having to purchase a new system or upgrade. It's simple; rent the hardware and pay per month for what you use.
Our hosted system is user-friendly, affordable and feature rich. Rather than other systems which offer a low starting cost but then charge for additional must-have features, all of our core features are available as standard (with only a couple of chargeable 'nice to haves*'). What’s more, all of our hosted clients receive access to an online user-interface which puts you in control of your extensions.
Since the telephone system is located remotely in our data centre, it is owned and maintained by us. We provide all necessary software and product development on a regular basis so your system is kept up to date. This really could be the last phone you'll ever need to purchase!
What's more, we offer a truly managed service. The price we quote includes site planning, connectivity, engineer installation and training. We'll support you through the install rather than send you a box of components for you to put together yourself.
We offer a wide choice of IP handsets which work with our hosted system. We stock a wide range of Panasonic, Grandstream and Polycom
